"Until these issues are dealt with, this EV evolution will be stuck in neutral!" - July 14, 2023 Canadian News Update + Commentary
Although automakers are putting on a brave face, they are quietly concerned about the growing number of EVs sitting on dealer’s lots.
One of the things I really enjoy about our Last Call phone-in segment on our show is that it gives the listener a platform to express your opinion on key issues and it gives us an unfiltered picture of how the public actually feels about the issues of the day.
Yesterday’s question, what would it take to convince you to buy an EV, was a case in point.
Our governments — and the automotive industry in general — have invested billions of dollars into EV technology and design, all predicated on the premise that we’ll embrace EVs and buy them as fast as they can make them.
The problem is, that’s not happening the way they thought it would.
EV sales are OK, but not great and, although automakers are putting on a brave face, they are quietly concerned about the growing number of EVs sitting on dealer’s lots.
Maybe those auto experts and politicians should spend more time listening to the unfiltered opinions of the public like we do everyday on our show.
Still too expensive, many of them told us; still worried about how long it takes to recharge the battery and how few charging stations are available.
These issues may not seem to be a big deal to the automakers and the politicians who subsidize the industry, but they are a big deal to consumers and until they’re dealt with, this EV evolution will be stuck in neutral!
