"The deck seems to be stacked in favour of Ford's development-at-any-cost attitude."- July 17 Canadian News update + commentary
Some councillors want to continue to oppose Ford’s ruling, but I would suggest that launching any legal response would be very costly and very ineffective.

Premier Doug Ford took another jab at Hamilton City Council last week when he reiterated that Hamilton is going to have to build their “fair share” of new homes in Greenbelt.
We’re not sure just what the premier means by “fair share,” but his comments seemed to be to remind council that they can complain all they want about Ford’s Greenbelt flip-flop, but there’s really not a lot they can do about it.
The traditional ways of appealing bad planning policies have been watered down or eliminated under Ford’s direction and the deck seems to be stacked in favour of his development-at-any-cost attitude.
Some councillors want to continue to oppose Ford’s ruling, but I would suggest that launching any legal response would be very costly and very ineffective.
This City has enough financial challenges without wasting taxpayers money on a million-to-one shot!
The more practical approach would be to work with any developers who make an application to build in these areas to ensure that any new neighbourhoods are liveable and environmentally sustainable.
