Kamala Harris Proves She is the Leader America Needs at DNC Convention
Democrats presented a realistic and optimistic message: HOPE.
We’ve come to expect grandiose claims from Trump, but it's interesting to note that his ‘I’m the greatest and I’m never wrong’ diatribes are wearing thin with many Americans; even some Fox News commentators are calling him out for his incoherent rants.
His message remains the same dystopian rhetoric he’s been spouting for nine years: crime in America is out of control (false—major crime is down in most cities and towns); millions of rapists and murderers are stampeding across the southern border (false—the number of immigrants and asylum seekers is lower now than during the Trump administration); and, contrary to his claims of a failing economy, interest rates are dropping steadily, job growth is increasing, and oil production is higher than ever.
By contrast, the Democrats presented a realistic and optimistic message, resurrecting a strategy that was so successful for Barack Obama: ‘hope.’ Instead of Hulk Hogan grunting and ripping off his T-shirt or JD Vance suggesting that victims of incest and rape have merely been ‘inconvenienced’ or that women without children don’t care about America’s future, the Democrats delivered a master class in political oratory, articulating their vision and empathy.
The Obamas, the Clintons, and even Oprah showcased their mastery of political speaking, but the standout moment came from Vice President Kamala Harris. Her speech was not only the best of the convention; it may be one of the best speeches in American political history. And it couldn’t come at a better time, as more and more Republicans express a desire to reclaim their party.
Although conventions can sometimes be boring and tedious, they reveal a lot about a political party’s identity. Messaging is crucial, but so is the presentation; the tone and delivery from the Republicans and Democrats at their respective conventions were a study in contrast. The Republicans concluded their convention with another long, rambling, and disjointed rant from their cult leader, Donald Trump. Many have had enough of the insidious hatred and buffoonery from the cult that has hijacked the Party of Lincoln and Reagan.
The only way for that to change is to exorcise Donald Trump once and for all, and Kamala Harris is clearly the leader America needs.
