“If the guy had a Swastika emblazoned on the front of his shirt for all the world to see, would Poilievre have done the same?” - July 15 Canadian News update + commentary
Embracing a guy with an obviously homophobic message on his shirt broadcasts loud and clear that he is, at the very least, OK with that anti-LGBTQ message.
So, the reconstituted and made-over Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre says that he rejects the “straight pride” message on a shirt on some guy that he was photographed with at the Calgary Stampede.
I suppose that Poilievre’s post-photo “rejection” is intended to assuage the outrage from not only human rights groups but regular Canadians, who are offended by Poilivere’s embrace of such a blatant homophobic message.
The spin doctors have invented this new and cool incarnation of Poilievre; resplendent in his black stetson and t-shirt and aviator glasses, trying to show us that he’s an easy-going, reasonable Canadian, like most of us…
I’m not sure that Canadians are buying that message.
We know that Polievere has ditched the geeky glasses, but does that mean that he can no longer read?
Embracing a guy with an obviously homophobic message on his shirt broadcasts loud and clear that he is, at the very least, OK with that anti-LGBTQ message.
Poilievre’s excuse is that he poses for pictures with all kinds of people.
Really?
If the guy had a Swastika emblazoned on the front of his shirt for all the world to see, would Poilievre have done the same?
People aren’t as naive as you seem to think, Mr. Poilievre.
They know to whom you are pandering, and you will be judged accordingly.
