In this episode, Bill Kelly and Phil Gurski, former CSIS analyst and author, discuss the issue of foreign interference in Canadian politics and the lack of action taken by the government, after reports that some parliamentarians had been involved in efforts of foreign states to interfere in Canadian politics. Since the report broke, there’s been a lack of follow-up and discussion on this issue. Why are the RCMP reluctant to investigate?
The CSIS Act describes Foreign-Influenced Activities, which is another term for Foreign Interference, as “activities within or relating to Canada that are detrimental to the interests of Canada and are clandestine or deceptive or involve a threat to any person”.
